Nkobongo CC downs champions

Cricketers show their worth to beat favourites in T20 match.

Nkobongo cricket club caused a major upset in the Warriors Sport T20 knock-out tournament over the weekend when they defeated defending champions and favourites, Manor A, in their semi-final clash at the Gledhow grounds.

Nkobongo won the toss and elected to get runs on the board, batting first in the knock-out game.

Lucky Gebane top scored with 21 runs with Nkobongo ending their innings on a modest total of 76/9.

S Loganathan was the stand out bowler for Manor A, claiming 2/11.

The two Manor openers, Alveiro Nadesan and Dillon Rautenbach, could not replicate their heroics of the previous week when they both scored centuries and when they fell cheaply, their team could not adjust.

They ended their innings on 63 all out in the 16th over with Z Cassimjee (10) the only batsman reaching double figures.

Destroyer in chief I Khoza claimed 3/12 with team mate, V Banda also contributing strongly with 2/12.

Nkobongo won by 13 runs and will now face United in the final scheduled for May 3.
