Competition devoured by Hungry Lions

New Guelderland community received a new soccer field.

It was an exciting weekend for the New Guelderland community, receiving their own soccer field and having their home team declared the victors on the ground’s first tournament.

The tournament, coordinated by Dolphin Coast Land Management (DCLM) and Ukuphakamisa non-profit, was held between four of the surrounding community teams, Prince’s Grant, Nonoti, Stewards and New Guelderland on Saturday.

Ukuphakamisa NPO is fully sponsored by DCLM.

The organisation’s main objective is to uplift and educate the local people, and so they upgraded the New Guelderland field into a proper soccer field and presented it to the community for their recreational use.

The trophy, soccer kits and soccer boots which were fully sponsored by DCLM, were awarded to the winning team: The New Guelderland Hungry Lions.

The tournament was supported by South African Football Association (SAFA).

Cllr James Van Whye commended DCLM for their support and work towards improving the quality of life for the local community.
