Preparing for the big league

Nkobongo Real Madrid team happpy with a hard fought draw.

In preparation for the SAB regional league in KwaDukuza, Nkobongo Real Madrid went to Cato Manor Sport grounds on Sunday to play against two Mayville soccer teams.

Against National FC, Madrid won 2-1 with brilliant goals from Mlungisi Sbiya and Sphamandla “Spepe” Mtolo.

Both teams gave their best performance, with impressive moves from the Madrid wingers making the game interesting.

In the second game against Happy Boys, Madrid was under pressure as Happy Boys were brilliant on the attack. But goalkeeper Sizwe Mbokazi made some great saves keeping them in the lead.

In the second half Lowrance Mgadi managed to get the ball through the goal post of Mbokazi, which was a wake-up call for Madrid and they started to attack in full force.

In the dying minute of the game, Vusi Mlondo netted a brilliant goal and his team escaped with a draw.

Madrid coach Ajipha Ntamila said he was impressed with the quality of football that was played by his team.

“The reason we went to Durban is the standard of soccer in Mayville is very high compared to KwaDukuza. To prepare for the league we must compete with the best,” he said.

Ntamila said the SAB league will start end of August and this season they want the championship trophy in Nkobongo.
