Ballito kiddo rides to the top of her class
Horse rider earns top spot at first equitation tests.
At only ten years of age, Ballito’s Shylo Frances made a winning impression at the Barry Yarnell KZN Equitation Championships at Durban Shongweni Club, September 25 to 27.
This was the first time the skilled horse rider took part in the equitation tests. Her mother, Vanessa, said it was a really proud moment.
“The equitation tests are given to the riders to determine their riding skills. This was her first equitation tests and her second affiliated show where she was graded,” she said.
Shylo has been riding since she was four-years-old.
On the Friday she was placed first in the Welcome Equitation test and first in the Equipage and Barry Yarnell KZN Welcome Equitation Championship.
The next day she won the Equipage 60cm Welcome Stakes and on Sunday was placed second in the Equipage 60cm Accumulator with Joker and third in the Equipage and Barry Yarnell 60cm Show Jumping.
“Her horse, Apachie, also got a sash and a rosette so it was quite a big deal!” said her proud mom.
“It was great to see all the hard work, time and dedication coming to fruition and Shylo was very happy with her result.”
