Sasol Salt Rock colour run for CANSA

All the proceeds went to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Despite the unpleasant weather, 85 athletes rocked their pink T-shirts and ran the annual 5km Sasol Salt Rock colour run on Saturday.

The race was held to create cancer awareness, with all the proceeds going to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Sasol Salt Rock manager Preveena Thulkanum said the race was close to her heart because she had lost her father to cancer earlier this year.

“We did not know much about cancer until my dad was diagnosed then only we started reading up and asking questions,” said Thulkanum.

She said every year they chose a different theme.

Last year was for the rhinos and the previous year was for winter warmth blankets.

The race was won by Chamu Phiri, who finished in less than 30 minutes. After finishing, he ran back to fetch the others.
