This season was a mixed bag for the Quartz and they have vowed to improve and come back stronger next season.

Quartz Bar at Stanger Manor hosted the final game of the UNL Fresh Produce League recently where the Quartz Darts Club took on Darnall United in a must win encounter which also saw Neelans Auto take on Singhs Fireworks in game two.

The first game, with Quartz Darts Club members facing off against Darnall United, Quartz sealed the first three frames with 4-2, 5-1 and 4-2.

The first half saw a result of 13-5. Frames four, five and six saw the Darnall boys take frame four with a score of 6-0, threatening an unlikely come-back however, the Quartz held their own to draw a win in the last two frames with a score of 3-3, 4-2 and the end game result of 20-16.

Darrel Shanmagum and Bradley Majid (Team Quartz) won five of six games and Ivason Murgan (Team Quartz) four of six, while Vinesh Geanbally (Team Darnall) closed 117 and Jerry Govender (Team Darnall) 141 as a consolation prize.

This season was a mixed bag for the Quartz and they have vowed to improve and come back stronger next season.

Round two saw league winners, Neelans Auto take on a rejuvenated Singhs Fireworks who fielded a strong line-up in an attempt to cause an upset against Neelans ‘Juggernaut’.

The results saw frame one, two and three at 4-2, 5-1 and a draw of 3-3, taking the first half at 12-6.

Frame four saw Neelans dominate once again with a victory of 5-1 however, the team took its foot off the gas, losing the last frame 4-2.

Neelans comfortable victory of 24-12 continued their undefeated record in the UNL Fresh Produce League. Yogan Pillay and Jodie Naidoo won five of six games, Vasa Rungasamy and Nine Pillay won four of six games while Vasa also recorded a 180.

Mervin Pillay of Singhs recorded four of six wins to no avail as his team mates failed to pitch up.

This season was a very trying one for Neelans, which has to be commended as they continued to perform even though they lost players Charlie and Balu Pillay during the season.

The ‘Gledhow Boyz’ have done their former players, fathers, uncles and friends proud.

The KDA players and officials send their thanks to Umesh Poona of UNL Fresh Produce for his continued support and sponsorship toward growing darts in KwaDukuza.
