WATCH: Chasing Olympic gold, a video interview with two Ballito athletes

Zakhiti Nene and Amy Naude are two 400m runners from Ballito with big dreams for their athletic futures.

Two weeks ago, The Courier reported on two outstanding Ballito athletes, both 400m runners.

Zakhiti Nene (23) recently won the South African Senior Championships and went on to win Olympic qualification with the SA 4x400m squad in Poland.

He is now back in Europe to compete at the highest level of international competition in a bid to gain individual Olympic qualification.

Amy Naude (19) is the current South African Junior Champion, also running a personal best time of 53.65s to finish second in the SA Senior Championships.

While training for the World Junior Championships, set to be held in Kenya in August, Amy is also trying to get to Europe to compete internationally.

With no backing from the SA Athletics body, she is trying to raise R50 000 in order to live out her dreams.

In order to get a feel for the talent of both athletes, The Courier recently sat in on a training session at King’s Park Athletic Stadium.
