Striding through Seaton with KZN Trail Running

Ross Minter-Brown claimed the 13km title in 1:16.42 and Maxine Lopez was the first female finisher in 1:34.51.

More than a hundred runners braved punishing heat and an early Sunday wake-up when taking on the Seaton Trail Run at the weekend.

Despite a bit of extra mud from the previous evening’s heavy rain, runners were able to take on trails of 6km, 13km or 18km through Seaton Estate and the surrounding areas.

The run was held as part of the popular KZN Trail Running series which hosts weekly events across the province.

Most are focused inland around Pietermaritzburg, Hilton and Howick, but they do typically come to the coast a few times a year. The 18km long course was won comfortably by Ryan van Leeuwen in 1:43.09, followed by top female Tarryn Lopez in 1:48.28.

First finisher in the 13km, Ross Minter-Brown.

Ross Minter-Brown claimed the 13km title in 1:16.42. Maxine Lopez was the first female finisher in 1:34.51.

The 6km was dominated by the ladies and Shannon Hill took overall honours with a time of 43.07, just ahead of Megan Cilliers in 43.43.

Shannon Hill was the first across the line in the 6km race.
