Don’t buy that tie, do something different, even if its DIY!

The year of dad jokes, bad jokes and plenty of beer. All Fathers are unique an although they should all be celebrated on the daily, you should spoil dad this Father’s Day to show him just how much you appreciate him!!

Gifting is always a struggle. I mean, how many more gadgets can you really buy and it’s not like that cologne you bought him last year hasn’t even reached half way yet, so yet again we are faced with the daring question, “What do we buy Dad this year for Father’s Day”?

Luckily, we have taken out the stress from the situation and have compiled a few!

SPOILS FOR THE OLD MAN

Taylors Meats prides themselves in selling the best cuts on the North Coast.

It would be a no brainer to spoil dad this Father’s Day with their famous 300g Rump steak and even better, their inhouse Marinade.

See below for their recipe and serving suggestions

Father’s Day Picture Frame

  • 10 minutes (time spent doing stuff)
  • 30 minutes (time spent waiting around)
  • 40 minutes (total project time)

Tools

  • Hot glue gun

Materials

  • Picture frame
  • Wood scrabble letters
  • Spray paint (I used Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray in Antique Brass)

Instructions

  1. Start by removing the backing and glass from your picture frame. Spray a light coat of paint onto the picture frame and set it aside to dry (about half an hour).
  2. Once the paint is dry, add a dab of hot glue to the back of your letter tiles and attach them to your picture frame.
  3. I made the word “Daddy” across the top of the frame and “Daughter” down the side.
  4. Hot glue dries super-fast, so once you have all your letters on your picture frame, all you have to do is put it back together with a photo inside, and you’re done!

Tooth Brush and Razor holder

Instructions:

  1. Ensure that the can you are using is clean and rust free
  2. Tape the top side of the can to ensure that you don’t get cut when working with the can
  3. Measure your surface area (wrap a tape measure around the can from left to right – member to add on an additional 2cm for the top and 2cm for the bottoms to over-lap the sharp edges)
  4. Measure out the paper/material you will be using and cut it out.
  5. Ideally modge podge would be the best material for sticking but your usual Bostik wood glue or clear glue would do just fine. Run lines of glue 1cm apart from each other, top to bottom all the way round the tin.
  6. Stick the material tightly (with the 2cms on each end sticking out) from the middle to the ends.
  7. Run a strip of glue on the material that is overlapping and fold inside the tin to cover the sharp edges. Do the same for the bottom (you may need to fold a bit of the fabric/paper to ensure it doesn’t “bubble” at the bottom)
  8. Add on any additional embellishments (maybe a few letters or rope) to add that extra special onto the holder.
  9. Allow to dry for 2 hours before using

Customised DAD book:

  1. Cheap 4×6 photo book (found ours at CNA)
  2. Washi tape, ribbon or patterned paper
  3. 4×6 dad book pages (downloads are below)

To Make

  • Trim the pages out of the photo book (as close to the fold as possible)
  • Staple the pages together
  • Cover the edge with washi tape, ribbon or patterned paper folded over
  • Have children fill out the pages, include extras of pages 3-5 for each additional child
