Maguyana Primary school has once again received a helping hand from ConinghamLee consultants.

In January Maguyana were given a kitchen by ConinghamLee, which has been doing social work at the school for the last few months as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.

Their latest contribution was to plough the soil and plant grass last Friday, for what will become the school’s first grass sports field.

With the help of 007 plant hire, Sosal plant hire and Evergreen turf, some of ConinghamLee’s employees took time out of their busy schedules to help lay down some new turf at the school.

ConinghamLee’s Linda Herbst said that they could not wait to put up the goal posts for the football pitch once it is finished. “I would love to challenge other corporates to pledge some grass or help out where they can,” she added.

Herbst was also very grateful for the help received from 007, Sosal and Evergreen turf. “The guys all came on board and really went out of their way to help us do this. We have ploughed and watered all this ground in one day, thanks to their help.”

Sembcorp Siza Water donated water which was transported to the school by Sosal. According to Herbst, the area has been without water for a month.

Community members were also given water from the tank after the grass had been watered. “They walk up to five kilometres for water from a reservoir with dirty water that has to be boiled and is probably still not safe. Ilembe is their provider and no one can get answers out of them,” said Herbst.

“It was a blessing for them to receive this clean water,” she said.
