On Sunday, July 20 the Tongaat community comprising of CBO’s, NGO’s, civic bodies, religious representatives and sub-sector crime forum members met to view the CPF constitution and adopt same. The meeting was well attended and fairly represented.
Present were the cluster commander Phoenix, Brig. Ngobeni, the cluster board chairperson, Umesh Singh and deputy cluster chairperson Duncan Dube. The constitution was presented to the community by the station commander, Col Santha Moodley and unanimously accepted by those present. The acceptance of the constitution is a positive for the community of Tongaat as it enables us to move forward and establish the community police forum for Tongaat.
Although there were a few detractors who attempted to derail the meeting, the community and police stood firm that the process would continue and those disrupters were removed.
The proposed date of the AGM is Sunday August 31, venue to be confirmed. The community is thanked for their participation and commitment in this process.
