Former drug addict publishes book
Book to tackle controversial issues on dealing with addiction.
A former drug addict and Stanger resident, George Mukesh Bhoonpershad recently published his first book to try and help other people who suffer from addictions.
The book, Heal Addiction with Bhakti Yoga and Stay High Forever deals with a controversial way of tackling addictions – through the power of Bhakti Yoga, practised by the author.
The book is dedicated to Semara Meyer who died after an overdose.
Having been in the same rehab as Meyer, her death was one of the main inspirations for Bhoonpershad to write the book.
In the more than 300 pages, Bhoonpershad tries to express how only a spiritual solution can help with harmful addiction.
The author plans to arrange a community meeting in Ballito on April 11 with the different local religious leaders to come speak and pray on the subject of addiction in their faiths, as a way to unite people against this disease.
