Freshlyground to headline Charity Fair
Tongaat child and welfare society's charity fair will provide top entertainment.
South African sensation Freshlyground will top the billing at the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society’s Charity Fair on Saturday night.
The seven piece outfit, which was formed in early 2002, is made up of seven talented and diverse musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Fronted by the diminutive but dynamic Zolani Mahola, the band exudes a live performance energy that has been the bedrock of their success.
The experienced rhythm section of Peter Cohen (drums) and Josh Hawks (bass) is complimented by guitarist Julio Sigauque, keyboardist Seredeal Scheepers, Simon Attwell (flute, mbira, sax and harmonica) and violinist Kyla Rose Smith.
Although hailing from diverse backgrounds, between them the band’s members weave a musical magic that is highly infectious and undeniably groovy.

The Tyles are a versatile band capable of playing all genres of music.
The ace in their pocket is their dynamic lead guitarist – Saiyan Naidoo, who, at only 10 years old, strums hits like Hotel California, Black Magic Woman and Sultans of Swing.
He was recently the showstopper at Sibaya and will definitely wow the audience at the Tongaat Charity Fair.
Dilkash Showband will keep the feet tapping with their rendition of ever popular Indian melodies.
The hottest Indian comedian on SA soil, the Karou-Charou will be featuring two bands: the Tracks and Tyrants. This will be followed by East Coast Radio’s Damon Beard before Freshlyground takes to the stage.
DJ Sir Bubzin and DJ Cindo are set to perform on Friday night while Ghetto Squad will anchor the build up, including several local artists.
Sunday, March 29 sees a mixed bag of artists from different religious groups, providing you with a wide variety of shows, including gospel groups.
The 25th Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society’s Charity Fair runs from March 25 until 29 and also includes the Edufair Programme, Thursday for primary school children and Friday for secondary schools.
The children will also enjoy The Musical Circus by X-Treme Entertainment with comedy and magic shows, the popular police K9 Dog Show and Eddie Chetty’s Fun Fair.
