How to make a trendy Mica DIY blanket ladder
This weekend, whip out your DIY skills and get creative.
With the evenings getting cooler and the sun rising later, winter is creeping in and it is nearly time to cuddle under a blanket again.
Mica’s DIY blanket ladder is a practical and stylish solution to store your blankets.
What you will need:
2 x 1.5m 2×4 (20cm thick timber)
1 x 1.73m 2×6 (20cm thick timber)
Wood Screws
Drill
Screwdriver
Sander
Sanding Paper (medium grain)
Wood stain of your choice
Paintbrush
What you need to do:
1. Cut your 2×6 plank into four equal pieces of 43cm each.
2. Drill four pocket holes on each corner of each 43cm 2×6 plank.
3. Lay one 1.5m 2×4 flat and position the first 2×6 8cm from the top. Placing the 2×6 at an angle so the front corner touches the front of the 2×4 and the back corner of the 2×6 touches the back of the 2×4 (a slanted position).
4. After placing the first 2×6 into position, place the rest equally 30cm apart.
5. Once in position fasten the 2×6 planks to the 2×4 using a screwdriver and wood screws through the pocket holes.
6. Once all planks are secured onto the 2×4, repeat with the remaining 2×4 plank on the opposite side of the 2×6 planks.
7. Once all planks are secure this means your ladder has now been built! Using your wood stain and paintbrush, paint your ladder in your desired colour and allow to dry.
8. Once your ladder is dry, use your sander and sanding paper to lightly sand off some of the stain to add a distressed look.
9. Dust off the excess and your blanket ladder is ready to be used!
