With the cooler evenings and the later sunrises setting in, it is clear that autumn is on your cupboard’s doorstep.
Salt Rock based fashion consultant, Liliam Longden, met with the Courier to share the newest autumn trends and give advice on who should wear what.
“Before the 90s, there was only one style, but now we are given choices and are no longer dictated to by fashion,” said Longden.
This season you have a choice of monochrome squares, leopard print or the khaki military look.
“Leopard print is everywhere and anyone can where it,” she said.
“Mixing squares are in and come in all clothing items and sizes, but be careful of the type of square, as they do have an enlarging effect, so stick to smaller squares for a slimmer look.”
Narrow stretch skirts are all the rage, but again, Longden warns that they are extremely unforgiving and should be warn with caution.
Bomber jackets on the other hand are wearer friendly and are making a comeback this autumn.
“Along with the bomber jackets, the military look is big, with khaki and camouflage green making an appearance in everything from smart to casual outfits,” she said.
Jean lovers will be happy to hear that denim is all over the fashion world, be it skinny, bootleg, smart or studded.
“Jeans have been elevated to a new level and have been given more respect and glamour in the fashion world, in fact denims are found on the runways now and even Valentino is in jeans.”
For a soft, cuddly feeling, get a gorgeous shearling jacket, which will keep you warm and will not make you look sheepish.
So whether you like bold leopard print, elegant black and white squares or prefer to be khaki chic, it is all possible this autumn.
