Johnny turns 95
Former professional golfer Johnny Baiocchi celebrates his birthday.
Well-known Ballito resident and former professional golfer, Johnny Baiocchi turned 95-years-old last week.
Johnny was a professional golfer at Modderfontein Country Club in Johannesburg for many years and later ran the pro shop at Prince’s Grant, a course designed by his son, Hugh, who is also a very successful professional golfer.
Johnny said he taught his son to play golf and whenever Hugh had a problem with his golf on tour, he would hop on a plane to go and assist him, whether it be in Europe or on home soil.
An intimate group of Johnny and seven of his closest friends celebrated this milestone on Thursday, April 30 at the Salt Rock Hotel. Jenny Muller made a stylishly decorated birthday cake for Johnny and the hotel’s catering staff decorated the table with fresh flowers. Johnny was absolutely thrilled and could not stop smiling.
The party was originally planned for outside, which, with the Salt Rock Hotel’s stunning sea views, palm trees and tropical island feel would have been idyllic, but the wind had other plans and the party was moved indoors.
The jovial group would let nothing stand between them and a good time as they chattered away, sharing stories and chuckles over a good curry.
