Overcoming challenges

Mental conditioning coach Jonathan Payne gives tips to overcome personal challenges.

Hirsch Ballito recently held their monthly networking breakfast where Jonathan Payne, a mental conditioning coach discussed how to overcome challenges in your life.

Payne talked about changing your mindset in order to reach your goals.

He highlighted four key skills that you as an individual need to master if you want to overcome challenges. These are concentration, confidence, control and commitment. Payne said focus needs to be a conscious activity.

“It’s too easy to get distracted so you need to ask yourself why am I doing this?” he said.

“With confidence, you must believe that you can do it, because you are far better than you think you are.”

It is vital to know what the appropriate emotional response is in a certain situation. Ask yourself if you are going to allow challenges to control you, or will you be in control?

Commitment, the last skill to overcome challenges, is all about believing in what you are doing and that it is possible.

“You need to crave what you want to achieve,” said Payne.

He explained that all of these actions work in synchronicity and if you drop one, they all are affected.

The lucky winner of the cookbook this month was Louise van Balderen of Spotless Cleans.
