Restaurant Review: Waterberry

David Hoehler reviews the breakfast at Waterberry in Ballito.

It is hard to believe that it has been almost two years since the Waterberry burnt down.

I, and I am sure the rest of Ballito and many, many holiday makers, were relieved when this institution of Ballito was rebuilt.

They surpassed my expectations with the new building, it is completely different from the previous venue.

They really deserve a pat on the back for bringing it all together.

I visited the new venue a few times before I decided to do a review.

On my previous visits the food was always good but the service was lacking, however on my last visit the service was exceptional.

We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast of Eggs Waterberry and Eggs Onassis.

Both were very well executed, the hollandaise sauce was on point.

I see so many people make a hash of these relatively simple egg based sauces, but they are doing it right.

I wish I had more space in my belly as I would have loved to try some of their cakes and desserts, as I remember they used to make an amazing nougat cheese cake… Well there’s always next time.

One thing I must recommend however is to go on their forest walk.

I was amazed at the size of that property and how it really feels like you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of Ballito.

Definitely worth the visit for breakfast!
