As the sun set on the Ballito seascape, residents and tourists alike cruised into Eat Local on Sunday, October 4, for an evening of delicious food, fine wine and live jazz music.
Doors opened at 5pm, with the band, known as Beatroute, performing classics ranging from Miles Davis to Nat King Cole as couples, families and groups of friends sat at their tables for a Sunday serenade.
The restaurant was fully booked for Beatroute’s performance, which had diners bopping their heads and tapping their feet as the saxophone moaned and the guitar gently weeped.
Mags Westerhof, owner of TMB Brand Management, whose marketing agency was tasked with organising the event, said that she was happy with the success of the event.
“The idea behind choosing jazz was to offer something truly unique to diners in the area and to also end the weekend on a high note,” said Westerhof, who added that jazz presented a chilled atmosphere people of all ages could enjoy.
Fernando Pilacio, brother of Eat Local’s owner, Hugo, said that he thought the night was a resounding success.
“Jazz music is the perfect thing to accompany the great food at Eat Local, said Pilacio.
