Beauty in the ordinary, artist Melissa von Brughan

The talented artist showcased her work at Natural Living art studio in Umhlali.

It was a celebration of the beauty of banana leaves at Natural Living, Burnedale Farm as Melissa Von Brughan showcased her stunning paintings last week.

The Hillcrest-based artist is a master with oils and enjoyed talking to people from all walks of life who attended her meet and greet session discussing technique, colour and just the joy of art.

“I like oil because it is a natural product.

“It feels more authentic and there is an amazing history to oils.

“I also find it more forgiving as it stays wet for longer, so it is easier to fix the painting,” said Von Brughan.
