KZN Youth Choir performance sold out at Zimbali Country Club
Leading the orchestra was bachelor of music degree holder and former Stellenbosch University student, Lykele Temmingh.
Zimbali Country Club guests were treated to a sold-out performance by the KwaZulu-Natal Youth Orchestra last Friday.
The orchestra, made up of pupils from around the province, recently won national colours at the South African School Band Association in the “Best School Orchestra” category.
It has also received the ‘Best School Ensemble’ award.
Leading the orchestra was bachelor of music degree holder and former Stellenbosch University student, Lykele Temmingh.

Temmingh began his career as a violinist in various orchestras which performed in Bloemfontein, Cape Town and Durban.
He then joined the violin section of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in 1983 and, come 1991, was the recipient of the South African Performing Arts Award for his services to music.
Come 2006, Temmingh was appointed the Artistic Director and Conductor of the KZN Youth Orchestra. Friday’s performance included renditions from Mamma Mia, Star Wars and Best of Bach. Guests were delighted with the rendition of Miriam Makeba’s Pata Pata.
