Here is a delicious recipe that tastes like vanilla ice-cream from Stephanie Wills of Ballito’s Propa Food Bar.
“Maca is an amazing adaptogen that helps your body cope with stress, balances hormones, increases energy and so much more,” said Wills.
The maca plant, known scientifically as Lepidium meyenii, is sometimes referred to as Peruvian ginseng.
The root is dried and made into a powder.
Maca root is a good source of carbs, is low in fat and contains a fair amount of fiber.
It is high in some essential vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, copper and iron.
Propa Vanilla and Maca smoothie bowl
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen banana
1 cup frozen sweet potato (steamed then frozen)
1/2 cup almond milk
1 heaped Tbsp almond butter
1 Tbsp maca powder
1 serving vanilla protein of choice
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Method:
• Blend
• Plate and decorate
