#CarReview: New Tiggo Cross a cost-effective choice
The car offers a wide range of features and solid experience on the road at a competitive price point.
The Chery Tiggo 4 Cross LiT MT punches above its price point, offering a solid driving experience and comfortable interior space.
Available from just R279 900, the stylish crossover gets you bang for your buck at relative hatchback prices. We test drove the entry-level model from the new range, which also includes an automatic CVT option for an additional R30 000, plus two higher-spec models and a further two hybrid options up to R469 900.
The car is visually appealing, and we particularly found the interior to be comfortable, with faux leather seats and user-friendly touchscreen controls. Dual 10.25-inch displays, one for the infotainment and the other as the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, are the first features that catch the eye.
The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, easy navigation functionality, voice control, a reverse-view camera and keyless entry.

From a performance perspective, the Tiggo Cross’ 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine produces maximum power of 83kW and maximum torque of 170Nm. Fuel consumption of 7L/100km is claimed.
We found the gearbox took some getting used to, but that the car handled a standard use case test drive in local traffic well. It is compact enough to nip around and park easily, but big enough to feel confident in more demanding moments.
Overall, the car offers a wide range of features and a solid experience on the road at a competitive price point.
