Pedestrian assaulted and robbed in Greenwood Park

The suspects fled the scene in a silver Hyundai.

A WOMAN was assaulted and robbed on Rosary Road in the Greenwood Park area on Wednesday evening.

According to Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall, five suspects in a silver Hyundai attempted to bundle the woman into their vehicle.

“Around 18:30, we received a call out about an armed robbery. When our officers arrived on scene, the victim told us she was walking home after work when five suspects in a silver Hyundai hatchback – further details are unknown – stopped and held her up at gunpoint.

“The suspects attempted to push her into the vehicle, but she managed to fight her way out. They fled the scene with her personal belongings, and unfortunately, the victim was assaulted and did sustain injuries,” he said.

Sooklall added the company had also contacted the Independent Crisis Team to render counselling to the victim.

Greenwood Park SAPS were also on scene, and a case will be opened.
