Homeless boys given warmth
Cadbury Lunch Bar provided warm clothes and a hearty meal to homeless boys in Brixton.
The boys at the Turning Points Homeless Boys and Yithubalami homes were excited when Lunch Bar representatives handed over the parcels filled with fleece blankets, jackets and food.
Peggy Sithebe of Turning Points Homeless Boys home said she was grateful for the donations, especially for the warm blankets because they would keep the boys warm this winter. “I feel blessed that there are people who think of our home. There are many other shelters in South Africa who did not get as lucky. I would like to thank Cadbury Lunch Bar for bringing smiles to or shelter because winter is really hard for us.”
One of the boys Mandla Nkandla said he had been praying for this day and he hoped that there were many organisations that were as graceful as the Lunch Bar team. “I don’t know how to thank Lunch Bar, it feels like Christmas in July, I hope they do the same next winter.”
According to Mpumi Mavi, Cadbury Lunch Bar’s assistant Public Relations manager, this formed part of their latest Corporate Social Responsibility campaign. “This was such a humbling project for us and as a team we do our best to try to make a difference in our community,” said Hayley Van Scott, Mondelez brand manager for Chocolate Bars.
