Auckland Park Preparatory School hockey girls take the stick by the handle at the St Stithians triangular
The Auckland Park Preparatory School hockey teams produced goals, grit, and outstanding sportsmanship on a memorable day of action against St Stithians and St Teresa's schools.
The Auckland Park Preparatory School (APPS) hockey teams enjoyed an excellent day of hockey at the annual triangular, hosted by St Stithians College, where they faced both St Stithians Girls’ Preparatory and St Teresa’s School.
With the season now well underway, the APPS girls won the majority of their matches on a day filled with exciting hockey, plenty of goals, and fiercely contested games.

Dot Hartmann, head of sport at APPS, said: “Of course, we’re delighted with the results, but what I’ll remember most are the moments that caught everyone by surprise. Girls found confidence, backed themselves, and produced some wonderful hockey, and within their teams made each other shine. That willingness to lift one another is something we’re incredibly proud of, because it’s where real sportsmanship begins.”

Headmistress Joanne Glendinning added: “Playing the APPS way means giving your very best, encouraging those around you and showing respect for your opponents. Our girls demonstrated those values throughout the day, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represented APPS.”
The triangular also showcased the very best of school sport and, by the final whistle, hockey was the true winner.
