United efforts catch City’s attention
On 6 August Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck met with residents of his area for a public meeting at Delta Park Environmental Centre.

Truluck advised neighborhoods to initiate Residents’ Associations as they have been proven effective in getting the city to address problems within the ward.
Truluck said, “When you are under threat you need a way to protect your safety and security as quickly as possible. Having a Resident’s Association allows your concerns to be heard and acted upon by people who care because they too
live in the affected area. The City often needs motivation and Residents’ Associations are very important in getting a concerted push to have your matters addressed.”
He explained that Resident Associations are helpful not just for matters of crime, but also for problems with infrastructure, utility services, cutting down of trees etc. since they are the eyes and ears of the ward.
“Residents Associations handle much of the day to day issues and so they are the real champions of our communities. A developer or business owner may not listen to one resident, but with a proper Association representing the entire neighborhood anyone coming in to the community will be obliged to take the concerns of the Resident Association into consideration.”
