Intruder’s car shot at in Fairland

A Fairland resident shot at a silver BMW after its driver had robbed another resident's house in Fairland on 17 August.

According to Fairland Police Station spokesperson Constable Michael Kgatla, the incident occurred in the afternoon shortly after the owners returned home from shopping. “The home owner was working on his car outside when he heard his wife screaming from inside the house,” Kgatla said.

The home owners then pressed the panic button, after which a nearby resident responded to that alarm.

The resident shot at the car’s back windscreen in an attempt to apprehend the intruder. However, the intruder managed to get away with a TV and jewellery.

Kgatla said it is possible that the intruder is part of a gang that uses BMWs in their criminal activities around the area.

The police have no further leads on the identification of the suspect.
