A strike by SA Breweries (SAB) workers affiliated to the Food and Allied Workers Union (Fawu) is underway.
The indefinite strike began on 30 September after workers demanded a nine percent raise, while SAB was offering seven percent.
SAB’s Robyn Chalmers said the company had contingency plans in place to minimise any disruption to its service and a security plan had been implemented to protect its people and assets.
“SAB is concerned that one of the main reasons behind the strike is Fawu's wish to undermine performance related pay,” Chalmers said.
She said SAB would continue negotiations with Fawu through normal channels in an effort to resolve the dispute in the most amicable manner possible and without delay.
