Stand with Stan launch
AUCKLAND PARK - Amputees can be awesome with the right prosthesis says Stan Andrews.
The Resolution Centre at the University of Johannesburg hosted a cocktail launch for the STANDwithSTAN charity.
STANDwithSTAN is a non-profit company which provides amputees who cannot afford state of the art prosthetics, to better prosthetics to enable them to reach their full potential. Realising that so many amputees are not able to live fulfilled lives due to poor or no prosthetics, Stan Andrews chose to be part of the change in the amputee’s life by creating the organisation.
“There is nothing I cannot do except water ski on two legs and it’s not for a lack of trying,” said Andrews. “My question to other amputees is why can’t you be like this also? The two key elements to making an amputee awesome are a great attitude and a good prosthesis. STANDwithSTAN is here to help people accept this challenge so that it doesn’t get the better of them.”
