Northcliff Rotary launches e-club

Randpark - Northcliff Rotary launches the first e-club of Southern Africa District 9400.

The Northcliff Rotary Club introduced the Rotary e-club of Southern Africa District 9400 to a new generation of members.

The revolutionary launch was hosted at the Randpark Golf Club on 29 January, with the presence of District 9400 Governor Anneas Balt.

Speaking at the event, emcee of the night Francis Callard explained the dynamics of the e-club.

“An e-club meets primarily online rather than in-person,” Callard said.

“And they will function very much like a regular rotary club with fundraising events and fellowship opportunities,” he added.

The e-club is designed for people who wish to become members but cannot afford the commitment of attending events due to various circumstances.

This is the first of its club of its kind in District 9400 and took an impressive four months to come into effect.

The e-club already has 31 charter members and two joining members who were inducted on the evening, Maureen Arnold and Valentin Micic.

The charter members are from various countries in Southern Africa including South Africa, Kenya, Botswana Swaziland and Tanzania.

President-elect of the e-club Annemarie Mostert urged the members to be active on the club’s website.

“Spend 20 minutes by browsing around and making comments, getting involved in friendship exchange, in activities that are also posted from the district,” she urged

Mostert confidently predicted that the e-club will have 200 members three years from now.

Balt was impressed with the dedication that was put in to ensure the swift launch of the e-club.

“Procrastination is our biggest enemy in the rotary. This is obviously not a case of procrastination, it took four months and that is a record in any company,” Balt marvelled, congratulating Mostert for her diligence in seeing the club through.
