Like father like son

VICTORY PARK - King David High School pupil named Junior Council Mayor.

King David pupil Yossi Bank was inaugurated as the new Mayor for the Johannesburg Junior Council of 2014-2015 at a moving ceremony at Parktown Boys High School on 19 February.

In a remarkable coincidence, Yossi’s father, Warren Bank, was also chosen as the Mayor for the Durban Youth Council exactly thirty years ago. As the saying goes, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

With Bank’s inauguration, King David High School Victory Park sports a superlative record in terms of its many pupils who have been elected to senior positions on the Executive of the Johannesburg Junior Council.

Ryan Canin and Saul Musker (Mayor), Julia Chaskalson (Deputy Mayor), and Joshua Broomberg (Chief Whip) have all demonstrated strong leadership skills, and now Yossi Bank has taken up a similar role for the coming year.

“We wish our two representatives for 2014-2015, Yossi Bank and Franki Friedman, every success in the coming year. We know that they will serve our school and community, as well as the broader society, with grace and distinction,” beamed Yael Gordon of King David High School.
