MBA means business

MELVILLE - Melville Business Association launches website.

The Melville Business Association (MBA) is proudly launching its website this week in a renewed push to increase communication and ensure business compliance with the by-laws of the municipality.

According to the association, the website will provide traders in Melville and surrounding areas with a platform to promote their business, while attracting new business people to the suburb.

By paying R1 000 for the first year, each business will get a profile page where they can add information, images and videos as well as links to their own website. Thereafter, the MBA annual fee will be R750 and owners will always have access to their page as long as they are a part of the association. For new businesses this is especially ideal as they get all the benefits of being hosted on a website without incurring hosting and web development fees.

“The MBA will be taking a strong standpoint over the next few months with regards to becoming compliant and becoming a strong representative business association,” explained Clyde Terry, Chairman of the MBA.

“Following strongly on recent raids, the MBA is taking a zero tolerance stand point and will be working with Councillor Amanda Forsythe to strengthen the business nodes of Melville and make sure they are acting in accordance with municipal by-laws.”

“It is not the MBA’s position to police businesses but [the association will do their] best to make sure that the businesses are towing the line and where possible working with the police going forward,” said the chairman.

“We are encouraging all businesses to visit the website to register. It is a simple process to join on the website and this will be promoted extensively.”

There will be an urgent MBA meeting on 8 April at Catz Pyjamas at 10.30 am
