Boot yourself into shape this winter

EMMARENTIA - Whatever your needs or goals the Adventure boot camp in Emmarentia caters for all fitness levels.

Getting into shape is never easy; it requires one to be fully committed to burning fat and tightening those muscles.

Those who need a little help in the discipline department should check out the Adventure Boot Camp at the UJ Hockey Stadium in Melville.

You will get some fresh air while you work up a sweat and it caters for all fitness, whatever your needs or goals.

Boot camp trainer Louise Gierschick originally took up adventure boot camp in 2010, when she was still a full-time personal trainer.

She felt the need to add outdoor adventure to her life and career.

“I think it’s the most rewarding career… I get to train, educate and meet such amazing women from all walks of life and all fitness levels. Some ladies want to lose weight and tone up; other ladies attend camp to keep fit and healthy, ” Gierschick said.

The classes are designed so that you get to cover all disciplines of exercise – toning, fitness, flexibility and core conditioning.

“I get so motivated when I see results from my campers. Whether it be improving their laps on a run or when they are able to complete more repetitions for a specific exercise or when their clothes get a little too big,” she added.

“It makes me proud of them and its always good to see a happy camper.”

Useful tips for winter motivation

– Winter is upon us. Make a promise to yourself that no matter what, you have to train at least a minimum of three days a week for 60 minutes. It is so easy to slack off or even throw in the towel during winter.

– What you put in is what you get out – every second and every minute counts.

– Winter can be daunting but the one way to survive it is to stay fit and active. Exercises increases the metabolism which ultimately can have an effect on body temperature and staying warm.

–  If you are eating a lot more to stay warm and happy, then extra sweating will be the only way to keep the extra weight off.

–  Staying fit is one of the best ways to stay healthy and “cold free”, so be kind to yourself and stay fit.

–  Group exercise is the best way to stay motivated in any activity in the boot camp because it allows a “support system” throughout the period of getting fit.
