Park run goes to Albert’s Farm
GREYMONT - Albert's Farm in Greymont is ready to host fervent runners on 16 August.
Are you a keen runner, jogger or a walker who enjoys outdoor surroundings?
Albert’s Farm in Greymont will host its inaugural park run on 16 August which will be held weekly.
According to race director Mike Tippett, the 5km park run concept started three years ago. “Currently there are 35 park-run venues around the country – this allows parkrunners to run an event wherever they are in South Africa.”
Park run was first introduced in the country by Comrade Marathon Champion Bruce Fordyce.
Fordyce ran the route recently and declared that the Albert’s Farm park run must rate as one of the most beautiful routes in Johannesburg.
“The early morning view of the Johannesburg city skyline makes the effort worthwhile.”
“The route covers all types of terrain and is certainly not difficult to complete…I cannot wait to take part in the run on 16 August,” shared Fordyce.
Greymont residents are taking pride in the upcoming launch by working frantically to get the venue ready for the day.
“Participation at all park runs is free and everyone is encouraged to come and run or walk no matter their state of fitness,” informed Tippett.
