Living for motivation

AUCKLAND PARK-Mthokozisi Gwizi has given his life to motivating the young and the old through teaching and writing books.

Mthokozisi Gwizi is a teacher of visually impaired pupils at Johannesburg School for the Blind in Auckland Park, poet, author of two books, facilitator and motivational speaker who has passionately inspired lives at different schools and organisations.

“I get my inspiration from seeing lives being transformed by my God-given gifts,” he says.

According to Gwizi, being a teacher of the visually impaired needs innovation.

“Blind pupils can produce impressive academic results as long as concrete and interesting learning resources are available to consolidate their learning,” he says.

As an motivational speaker, Gwizi’s books are centred around inspiring the world. His first book, Against All Odds: It Can Still Be Done, is a Bible-centred inspirational book which encourages those giving up on their dreams to rise up against all odds. In the same spirit, Gwizi’s second book entitled Wow! Tell me another one, is a Braille storybook for blind pupils which contains stories with important moral lessons.

Gwizi faces enormous challenges of his own but never gives up on “his life purpose” to motivate and transform lives.

“When you are obsessed with what you do, you can make sacrifices and do whatever it takes to keep going despite some challenges you encounter,” he says.

Gwizi’s word of encouragement for the youth is, “Never wait by the side-lines doing nothing saying ‘We are the leaders of tomorrow.’ Tomorrow does not belong to you, it belongs to your grandchildren, whatever you aspire, begin the journey today. We shouldn’t prolong the realisation of our dreams, hiding behind the saying ‘Rome was not built in a day’. Yes, Rome was not built in a day, but each and every day, Rome was diligently built,” concludes Gwizi.
