Park of horrors all in the name of charity

EMMARENTIA – The dead horde rose at Emmarentia's Dark park on 31 October.

The eighth annual Zombie Walk saw the undead horde rise at Emmarentia’s dark park at the Johannesburg Botanic Gardens on 31 October.

Creepy costumes, ghosts, pirates, horror and all things scary was the recipe for this year’s Halloween.

“It is Halloween and everything about the Zombie Walk is so much fun,” said director of Marang House Mathilde Harris.

“This whole initiative is to raise funds for Marang House and to celebrate Halloween,” she said.

Harris said the venue had changed from West Park Cemetery due to unforeseen circumstances.

Marang House, which benefited from the walk, provides care and support for rural children who require hospital treatment and are in need of constant supervision and medical care.

The institution provides an ideal recovery environment for children suffering from chronic illnesses such as renal failure, cancer, diabetes, burns, and/or trauma.
