New year, new addition to the family
MAYFAIR– Netcare Garden City Hospital welcomes two babies on New Year's day.
At 4.23am on 1 January Farzana Ebrahim’s bouncing baby boy took his first breaths in a delivery room at Netcare Garden City Hospital.
The baby, who has not been named yet, is the third child in the Ebrahim family.
“My two children have been patiently waiting for him to be born. I thought he was going to come at 37 weeks like my other children, but he refused to come out,” said the mother, who hoped to have her baby in time for Christmas.
“We wanted him home so we can spend more time with him while the children are on holiday, but unfortunately your plan and God’s plan are not the same. I see the baby just wanted to be a 2015 edition and not 2014.”
Subsequent to a routine check-up on 29 December last year, Ebrahim received not so good news.
“The doctor told me the baby was too high and I had to be induced, but then he just decided to come out,” said the proud mother.
Ebrahim said although this is her third time in the labour ward, the pain is the same.
“The pain doesn’t change, you can’t get used to it,” she said with a laugh.
“Each pregnancy is very different for everybody and each birth is very different, some people always say they will never have another child after experiencing the pain of natural birth, but end up having another one. When you see your children grow, you see it is truly a miracle and you would want to do it again.”
The new mother looks forward to the sleepless nights nursing the baby.
“I hope I still handle the pressure of waking up at night and taking care of the baby. I am still young so hopefully it won’t be that hard.”
ADD PIC OF LUCIA
On the same day, Lucia Makhubela became a proud mother to beautiful baby girl Mikhenso Makhubela at Netcare Garden City Hospital.
“This is my first baby and I am excited to be a mother,” she said.
