Local artists exhibit

MELVILLE – Local artists will be afforded the opportunity to display their work at the upcoming Local-Locale Exhibition.

A fine art exhibition will be held at Upstairs@Bamboo in Melville on 7 March. The exhibition will be entitled Local-Locale, and can be viewed up until 15 March.

Curator at the gallery Carol Lee explained what the exhibition was all about. “All the participants at the exhibit are contemporary South African artists (or have lived here), hence the ‘local’ component of the title. The ‘locale’ refers to the many references the artists make to place, space and environment, both physically and mentally,” she said

The collection will be featuring both well-known and emerging contemporary painters and sculptors, like Guy du Toit, Jaco Benade, Eric Duplan, Jaco Roux, Jan Neethling and Cobus Haupt.

Lee is pleased to have been given this opportunity to showcase such a wide array of talent. “The artwork on display is an excellent line which will be up of collectable and these talented artists promise an interesting show,” she said.

The opening of the exhibition will be held on Saturday 7 March from 09.30am to 4pm. The gallery can then be viewed daily thereafter between 10am and 3.30pm up until Sunday 15 March.
