Buried in shallow grave

Residents were relieved after finding – not human remains – but that of a dog buried in a shallow grave near De La Rey Road.

The Sophiatown Police Station’s head of visible policing Colonel Madelein Bunce assured the community of Albertskroon that it was a small grave of a dog – and not that of a person.

She said on 7 January they received calls from residents complaining about an awful smell coming from the grave by the road.

“Our police rushed there only to find that there was a dog buried,” she said.

Col Bunce said a few samples were taken from the scene nevertheless.
