Woman found dead in bath at Helen Joseph
AUCKLAND PARK –Police were called in and they are busy with the investigations.
A woman (35) was admitted to Helen Joseph Hospital on 22 January and subsequently found dead in a bathtub at the hospital on 24 January.
The woman’s body was found with burns to her face, leg and thigh. Gauteng Department of Health spokesperson Steve Mabona said, “According to the Hospital’s records the patient diagnosis was heart and renal failure. The patient was seen about 15 minutes earlier by the nursing staff.” The nurses on duty pulled her out of the hot water and immediately called a doctor to perform resuscitation.
Police were called in and they are busy with the investigations. Meanwhile a post mortem will be performed to determine the cause of death. The patient was admitted with a three-month-old baby who will be handed over to a next of kin.
“Our prayers are with the family of the bereaved during this time of grief. The investigation will help us ascertain what led to the incident,” said Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu.
