20 injured in collision at Roosevelt Park

ROOSEVELT PARK – Taxi overturns after brakes fail.

An accident took place on the corners of Beyers Naudé and Preller drives in Roosevelt Park on 15 February.

Emer-G-Med responded to reports of a serious taxi crash just before 6pm. On arrival paramedics found that a taxi, allegedly after the brakes failed, had been T-boned by a car causing it to overturn.

There were a total of 17 passengers in the taxi and a total of 20 people injured. Four passengers from the taxi sustained serious injuries that required advanced life support interventions.

The patients were treated on-scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals for further care.

“JMPD were on-scene to investigate the events leading up to the collision,” said Emer-G-Med spokesperson Max Cohen.
