Car on fire in Sophiatown

SOPHIATOWN–A car caught fire in Sophiatown late last night .

Emergency Management Services media liaison officer, Nana Radebe said that a car caught fire on the corner Stewart and Edwards streets in Sophiatown.

“EMS received a call from a witness at 21.55pm on 2 March about a car that was on fire. No one was injured and the cause of the accident is unknown. At this point there is no ongoing investigation ” said Radebe.

Sophiatown Neighbourhood Watch chairperson, Dauw Steyn said the driver was at a petrol station at a garage when the car went up in flames. “Luckily the driver managed to get the car into the Shoprite supermarket parking lot. The car was badly burnt,” said Steyn.
