Beautiful items sold for charity
MELVILLE – The Resurrection Charity Shop sells a variety of household items at affordable prices.
The Resurrection Charity Shop was established by Hotel Hope Ministries in order to raise funds to take care of abandoned and orphaned children.
The store is located on the corner of 2nd avenue and 7th street in Melville, and is run by store assistant Fifitha Mbuku. She said that she has been working at the Hotel Hope Ministries since 2011 before she became a store assistant this year.
Hotel Hope Ministries operation manager Renata Noble said that the store sells a variety of household furniture, books, lamps and ornaments. The items that are sold are donated, bought from a second-hand auction and resold at the store.
“All the proceeds go towards the children’s home to buy essentials such as nappies, formula, washing powder and day to day items. We urge people to buy at this particular store because they are indirectly helping a child in need. In return the children get to be raised in a loving environment and have all they need to be taken care of,” explained Noble.
Mbuku said that the store is open on Monday to Saturday from 9am–5pm.
“It was so lovely working at the children’s charity, it was truly my passion. I enjoy taking care of children because I’m also a mother of four. It still feels good to do something positive to help children in need,” said Mbuku.
