Tree feller fells tree for free

DELTA PARK – A tree is finally cut down after a member of the community offered the service for free.

Possible damage to the Delta Environmental Centre has been averted after a tree feller offered to fell a tree.

The ana (acacia albida), a bird-friendly tree leaned over the roof on the corner of the DEC building near the tea garden and threatened to destroy the building.

Retired executive officer, Di Beeton, made an appeal to the public for a tree feller to cut the tree down.

Resident manager at the Centre, Geoff Lockwood, said Ann from Brands Tree-felling contacted kindly offered to cut down the tree for free.

“In spite of its size, over 20m tall, and the fact that it was covered with spiky thorns, a team from Brands Tree-felling arrived on 30 March and safely and successfully brought down the tree in sections – this without any damage to the surrounding trees and shrubs or infrastructure. It was a thoroughly professional job,” he said.

He acknowledged that the centre appreciated the community support.
