Filmmakers festival
AUCKLAND PARK – An aspiring filmmaker is selected to be a part of the Red Bull Amaphiko Film Festival.
The Red Bull Amaphiko Film Festival aims to celebrate the power of film by collaborating with aspiring filmmakers and industry professionals.
The festival will take place from 28 to 30 October at the Eyethu Lifestyle Centre, where aspiring filmmakers will be exposed to everything related to film, such as script-writing, pitching, business and more.
Auckland Park resident, Siphesihle Mdluli has been selected along with 29 other filmmakers, for the Redbull Amaphiko Film Festival. Mduli is currently a second-year student studying towards a BA in Motion Picture Medium and said he heard about the film festival via social media.
“Red Bull is a brand I’ve always been interested in and, so far, I’ve never heard of Red Bull being involved in film and I wanted to see what was on offer. I like the way stories are told in different ways and believe visuals last longer in people’s minds as opposed to other mediums. Anything to do with visuals and storytelling is what I’m most passionate about,” said Mdluli.
He added that, via the festival, he hopes to learn how to showcase his productions on TV and other platforms and would like to gain knowledge in all aspects of the film industry. Mdluli aims to make documentaries, short stories, advertisements and music videos.
“I look up to directors like Kyle Wright, who’s worked with many celebrities. I’m also inspired by the different types of shots he uses that are unique and of good quality on screen. I also like Warren Masemola as an actor; I love his acting style and he is very diverse in the type of roles he plays,” concluded Mdluli.
