MUST READ: Westbury gets a new clinic
WESTBURY – Executive Mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba leads the community of Westbury into a new era of primary healthcare.
A new primary health care facility has opened in Westbury.

Community members were excited to be part of a new era of healthcare for the community as they gathered to see the brand-new Westbury Clinic which opened on 6 December.

The auspicious occasion was lead by City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba.
MMC for Health and Social Development, Mpho Phalatse addressed the audience and welcomed them to a new way of health. She recalled how the previous clinic had to tend to 200 patients daily with a staff of only five nurses.
“Another challenge faced by the previous clinic was that as more services were introduced, the more the work became compounded,” said Phalatse.

Mashaba said the services that would be provided at the clinic would aid not only the Westbury community but residents from Auckland Park, Westdene, Brixton, Richmond, Crosby and Cottesloe. “It will provide access to quality primary healthcare to approximately 550 000 residents,” he added.

Mashaba said the old clinic was demolished to make way for this new double-storey facility which has 18 consultation rooms. The facility also has an isolation room, medical store, a facility for emergency services along with a ‘chill room’ for the youth, and a reception and waiting area.

The clinic would offer a range of primary health care services with a strong focus on mother and child health, chronic diseases, rehabilitation, antiretroviral treatment and advice on healthy lifestyles.
