Zeenath from Berario takes her crown

Zeenath Desai was recently crowned Mrs South Africa Globe 2018 and plans to proudly represent the country on a global stage next year.

The doting mother of two said she was overjoyed to be crowned with the title as she went up against talented, beautiful women who also seek to change the world.

She explained that this title went far beyond a crown and sash and symbolises women of stature and gracefulness.

“These are the characteristics that best describe me,” Desai said. “I just want to make my country proud and show the rest of the world the true meaning of Ubuntu.”

The lead-up to her achieving the title had Desai and 24 other contestants take part in a seven-day roadshow which saw them do different activities daily.

“The seven days were intense as they included interviews and visits to various charities and seeing sights.”

The self-proclaimed soccer mom said the journey was profound and it would open doors for the charities she is part of.

Desai is an ambassador for She’s Royalty, a non-governmental organisation which helps young girls empower themselves. She is also part of two other charities which work to assist young girls who face various socio-economic difficulties.

She hopes that from her journey, women can see that all they need to do is just believe in themselves and live with the conviction that they can do anything.

The pageant will take place late next year and Desai said she looks forward to making her family and country proud.
