Let Them Grow makes a difference

MARAISBURG – Let Them Grow strives for more than just seeing their children grow.

Let Them Grow, a private baby daycare based in Northcliff, does not only want their children to grow but the community as well.

On 30 November, members of the daycare, including owner Marinda Swart, visited the Sparrow Village in Maraisburg, a haven for those with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

The daycare, although small, got together what they could, both tangible donations and money, and handed it over to the village management.

Instead of just handing over money and making a dash, Let Them Grow took a tour of the village to see the kind of work being done and what needs attention at the facility.

Founder and director of Sparrow Ministries, Rev. Corine McClintock, explained that they rely solely on donations and a lot of work needs to be done but they are getting there.

Swart was touched by all the good work being done in the village and how little they have to get by on and said she would like to get more involved.

Sparrow Village is looking to open a crèche but wants to train staff and mothers to act as early childhood development teachers to make the project more sustainable.

While nothing was officially agreed upon, Swart seemed keen to assist with their plan. She explained that she would like to add Sparrow to the Let Them Grow pay it forward project.

On the day, Let Them Grow donated R2 500 to the village and also gave them a bus-load of different kinds of goods, including brand new toys for the village’s children.

“I just think if everyone gives a little bit, it makes a difference. We can make a difference,” Swart told Northcliff Melville Times.
