Northcliff Air Rifle Club shoots well, but in a safe environment

NORTHCLIFF – There is no safer place to shoot, than at the Northcliff Air Rifle Club.

The Northcliff Air Rifle Club is all about having fun while shooting targets in a safe environment.

In over 10 years of air rifle shooting, not one accident has occurred on its premises.

Greg Twiggs has been shooting air rifles for six years.

Dave Brooke, who runs the club, is proud of this 100 per cent safety record and said it is due to strict safety regulations being implemented, and the buy-in from everyone who comes to the range.

It is for this reason that there is no better place to come and blow off some steam by shooting targets and enjoying a braai and drink with friends.

“I have just started shooting but it looks like something I definitely want to get into,” said Warren van Rensburg while peering into his scope. “It is a great stress relief and not physically demanding, but challenging in that the bulls-eye is so small and up to 50m away.”

Greg Twiggs, who has done benchrest shooting and field target shooting for six years, said the social environment at the club has kept him coming back.

“There is great camaraderie between all the people here,” he said.

“We all have a good laugh and it makes a nice social environment. It’s nice to help the new guys along too.”

Warren van Rensburg enjoys the challenge of shooting small targets up to 50m away.

Brooke added that apart from being a source of fun and stress relief, the sport improves hand-eye coordination and concentration.

He concluded by inviting anyone interested in trying out air rifle shooting to contact him.
